ADA Compliance – Saugatuck Public Schools
Saugatuck Public Schools is committed to providing information to everyone, online and offline. This includes striving to continually make this website accessible to all, including to those with visual, motor, auditory, and/or cognitive disabilities. We monitor and attempt to follow all current accessibility standards and guidelines.
We want every person with:
- a visual impairment to be able to use their screen readers to hear the content on our website
- a hearing impairment to be able to access closed captioning in our videos and alternative text in our photos and graphics
- a mobility/fine motor issue to be able to access information from our website even if they cannot use a mouse
In our district the word ACCESSIBLE means a person with a disability is afforded the opportunity to acquire the same information, engage in the same interactions, and enjoy the same services as a person without a disability in an equally effective and equally integrated manner, with substantially equivalent ease of use.
We want every person with a disability to be able to obtain the information as fully, equally, and independently as a person without a disability.
We realize that our commitment will not result in identical ease of use compared to that of persons without disabilities, but nevertheless, we are committed to the equal opportunity to access the educational benefits and opportunities afforded by the technology.
Our district is committed to offering a website which uses code compliant with W3C standards for HTML and CSS, that is we want current and future browsers to have the capability to display content correctly on all browsers for every person.
Occasionally some documents, forms, and content will be found on our website which are not ADA compatible. If they are our district’s materials, we will work to update and modify them accordingly. If they are from a third-party link (say, another educational entity or resource), we will work with third parties to respond to accessible issues.
If you experience any difficulty in accessing information on our district website or obtaining the information you need, please call or email Kim Sharda, Executive Assistant to the Superintendent and district website manager. Kim will make sure you get the information you need. Contact her at: (269) 857-1444 / ksharda@saugatuckps.com
