Dear SPS Community,
January is School Board Recognition Month. Locally elected school boards are a shining example of our democracy in action. This is a time to recognize the individuals charged with important and sometimes difficult decisions that affect the future of our children and our community.
Each of our current school board members has a vested interest in the success of our schools, as each one of them has, or recently had, children attending in the district. These public servants volunteer many hours in service to the children of our community each year. Their dedication, governance and advocacy for public education shape the future of education locally and in Michigan.
This month, please join me in thanking a board member. The men and women serving Saugatuck Public Schools and their years of service are:
Nathan Lowery (5th year)
Bernie Merkel (9th year)
Laura Zangara (4th Year)
Eric Birkholz (2nd year)
Frank Marro III (4th year)
Nicole Lewis (2nd year)
Gordon Stannis (8th year)
