COVID-19 Positive Case Update

In compliance with Emergency Order MCL 333.2253, Saugatuck Public Schools will report all school associated COVID-19 cases within 24 hours of notification by the Allegan County Health Department.  School associated cases mean a case of probable or confirmed COVID-19 amongst students, teachers, staff members, coaches, volunteers, or any other person who was present on school property or at a school function under circumstances that may result in the transmission or contraction of COVID-19 during their infectious period.

All school associated cases at Saugatuck Public Schools will be posted here.

Saugatuck Public Schools will cooperate with the Allegan County Health Department regarding implementing protocols for responding to positive tests among staff and students. The health department will initiate contact tracing, following regular public health practice. Anyone who was within close contact of the case (less than six feet apart for 15+ minutes) will be asked to self-quarantine for up to 14 days after exposure. Local health officials, depending on the situation, may identify other contacts that require quarantine. The school health department liaison will assist the health department by collecting data and contact information of those exposed.

Employees with a confirmed case of COVID-19 should only return to the workplace after they are no longer infectious. Local health officials will provide instructions about return to work, using the most current guidelines from the CDC for this determination.

The most effective mitigation strategies to limit community spread of the disease at school include home health screenings, social distancing, properly worn facial coverings, and frequent hand washing.
