Saugatuck Public Schools has unveiled a new five-year strategic plan designed to shape the future of education in the district. Grounded in community feedback and data-driven insights, the plan focuses on four core goal areas and reflects the share values of students, families, educators, and community members.
Community-Driven Vision
The strategic plan was shaped by input from more than 135 individuals through focus group meetings that included faculty, staff, parents, students, community members, and Board of Education members. Additionally, 362 survey responses from parents, students, and residents further informed the district’s direction.
From this feedback, six core belief statements emerged, which now guide the district’s priorities:
- Powerful community connections
- Family partnerships and shared trust
- An academic culture of high expectations and high support
- A positive district culture where every student and employee feel they belong
- The strength of our district’s size
- The belief that learning happens in many ways, places, and times
Four Strategic Goal Areas
To ensure the district’s long-term success, the Board of Education approved the plan during its regular meeting on May 15, 2023. The strategic actions and performance measures will focus district resources and efforts in the following areas:
- Personalized Education: Prioritizing student support and engagement to deliver individualized learning experiences.
- Excellence in Offerings and Delivery: Expanding student opportunities through innovation, global education, and a strong instructional core.
- Culture Conducive to Learning: Fostering student belonging and delivering personalized attention to support academic and personal growth.
- District Strength and Viability: Enhancing facilities, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and investing in faculty, staff, and community engagement.
